Plagiarism detection here is similarity detection: the system fingerprints passages in your text and compares them against an index of online pages and other sources configured for the product. When two spans align closely enough, they surface as a match with a similarity percentage and contextual highlighting—not a legal ruling on copyright or intent. Some plans let you add private documents or an internal corpus so you can catch reuse against your own prior reports, proposals, or knowledge base articles, which public web indexes alone would miss. The checker helps you find accidental copy-paste, patchwriting (lightly reworded sources), and duplicate publication. It does not replace human judgment about whether a match is properly quoted, licensed, or common knowledge. Very short phrases, stock idioms, and bibliographic references may appear as low-signal matches you can safely dismiss after review. Processing happens server-side; retention, history, and whether matches are indexed for future comparisons depend on your plan and account settings—confirm details in your dashboard and the Privacy Policy. If you patchwrote, rewrite the idea in your own structure with new examples rather than swapping synonyms sentence by sentence. For collaborative docs, rerun after merges because late edits can introduce fresh overlap. If private-corpus checking is enabled, upload or select approved prior documents, then interpret matches against those files before you look only at the public web.
