1. Service description and acceptable use
SynthQuery provides AI-assisted content intelligence tools, including but not limited to readability analysis, AI-content detection, plagiarism and similarity checks, humanization and rewriting aids, grammar assistance, and related features as described on our site and in-product documentation. The Services are provided for lawful business, educational, and personal writing workflows.
You agree not to misuse the Services. Without limitation, you must not: (a) attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network, or breach security or authentication measures; (b) use the Services to generate, distribute, or facilitate illegal, fraudulent, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or sexually exploitative content; (c) submit content you do not have the right to process, or that infringes third-party intellectual property or privacy rights; (d) interfere with other users' access or overload infrastructure (including circumventing rate limits or fair-use policies); (e) resell or redistribute the Services except as expressly permitted in a separate written agreement; or (f) use outputs to mislead others about authorship or the nature of machine-generated text where that would violate applicable law or institutional policy.
2. Account terms
You may need to register for an account to access certain features. You must provide accurate information, safeguard your credentials, and promptly notify us of any unauthorized use. You are responsible for all activity under your account unless caused by our gross negligence.
You must be at least the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction (typically 13 in the United States, or higher where required) to use the Services. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" includes the organization.
3. API usage and rate limits
API access may be offered on qualifying subscription plans. API keys are personal to your account (or your organization's account) and must not be shared with unauthorized parties. We apply technical and fair-use limits—including per-request size caps, requests per minute or hour, monthly quotas, and concurrency limits—to protect reliability and security. Limits may vary by plan and are described in the product, pricing materials, and API documentation.
You may not attempt to bypass rate limits, abuse caching, or use multiple accounts to evade restrictions. We may throttle, suspend, or terminate API access that risks the stability of the Services or violates these Terms.
4. Intellectual property
Your content. You retain ownership of text, files, and other materials you submit to the Services ("Your Content"). To operate the Services, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, transmit, display, and create derivative analyses and outputs (such as scores, highlights, and reports) solely to provide and improve the Services for you, consistent with our privacy-related disclosures.
Results. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive license to use reports, scores, and other outputs generated for your Content for your internal or external business or personal purposes, in accordance with applicable law and any policies of your school or employer.
SynthQuery property. The Services, including software, user interface, branding, documentation, and underlying models and infrastructure (excluding Your Content), are owned by SynthQuery and its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights expressly granted here, no rights are transferred to you.
5. Limitations of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither SynthQuery nor its suppliers will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Services. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Services in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (US$50), except where limitation is prohibited by law.
6. Disclaimers regarding AI detection and automated analysis
Outputs from AI detection, readability metrics, plagiarism similarity, grammar suggestions, and related tools are probabilistic or heuristic and may be incomplete or incorrect. No automated tool is 100% accurate. Short passages, heavily edited machine-generated text, mixed authorship, domain-specific jargon, non-English text, or unusual style may produce false positives or false negatives. Similarity scores do not prove misconduct; they indicate overlap with sources the system can access.
You agree not to rely on the Services as the sole basis for academic grading, employment, legal, or compliance decisions. You should combine automated results with human review and your own policies. Nothing in the Services constitutes legal advice.
7. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans, trials, and add-ons are described on our pricing page and in checkout. Fees are charged in the currency and at the intervals shown at purchase (e.g., monthly or annual), plus applicable taxes. Payments are processed by our payment processor (e.g., Stripe); you agree to their terms and to provide accurate billing information.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel through your account billing settings or customer portal where available; cancellation will typically take effect at the end of the current billing period unless stated otherwise. We may change prices with reasonable notice where required by law; continued use after the effective date may constitute acceptance. Refunds, if any, are governed by the policy stated at checkout or on our site at the time of purchase.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk or possible legal exposure for us, or if we cease offering the Services or your region (with reasonable notice where feasible). Upon termination, rights granted to you cease, though provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property definitions, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will survive.
9. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to applicable law, you and SynthQuery consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Delaware for disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice as appropriate (for example, by email or in-product notification). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
