Generate strong thesis statements · Multiple variations · Academic levels
• Be specific — Avoid vague claims. "Social media is bad" → "Instagram's algorithm promotes unrealistic body standards that increase anxiety in teens."
• Be arguable — Your thesis should be something others could disagree with. Facts are not thesis statements.
• Include a roadmap — Briefly hint at your main supporting points.
• One sentence — Keep it concise. If you need two sentences, the first should set context.
• Position it clearly — Usually the last sentence of your introduction paragraph.
